A joy-filled Worship in Music Workshop is coming to All Saints’ on Saturday, September 7, guided by the Rev. Jane McDougle. As musician and priest, Rev. Jane cares a great deal about all the elements that make for a spiritually enriching liturgy for as many participants as possible. Her taste in church music ranges from chant to contemporary… and she believes that joyous music that makes you want to dance is wonderful!
Under Rev. Jane’s guidance, we hope to enhance our worship with the interplay between music and word, and how it brings us together in community. Everyone who participates in the ministry of music making — from the congregation in the pew to the choir in the loft — is invited to join in the fun. We will have opportunity to sing many of our favorite hymns, as well as learn new music to enliven our shared worship experience.
Since 2012, Rev. Jane has been serving as Vicar at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, San Francisco. Prior to that, she served at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, Menlo Park, as Director of Music from 1992, and as associate priest from 2005. She is an accomplished teacher, and in addition to her Master of Divinity and Theology from Church Divinity School of the Pacific earned in 2005 she has a Doctorate in Musical Arts from Stanford University earned in 1989.
Our gathering will begin in the main sanctuary at 9:00 a.m., SW corner of Dolores Street and 9th Avenue in Carmel, and run until 12 noon; an optional lunch will follow from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $15.00; including lunch $20.00. Cash or checks will be accepted.
Parking is available on the street or, by a short walk, in the north parking lot of the Sunset Center at SE 8th Avenue and San Carlos Street. Please RSVP to the Parish Office by September 2: (831) 624-3883 or info@allsaintscarmel.org.
Then come, let’s make music!
